Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
CouncilAds is operated by Jon Roland, doing business as WorkLeapAI, a sole proprietorship based in Webster, Texas. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using CouncilAds, you agree to the practices described here. This policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
When you use CouncilAds, we collect information you provide to us, including:
- Email address - used to create your account, send you results, and communicate with you about your use of the service. Your email address is transmitted to our email delivery provider at the moment you create an account.
- Business information - details about your business, products, services, and advertising goals that you enter to generate ads or run a Council review. This information is used solely to provide the services you request.
- Ad content - the ad copy, landing page URLs, and website content you submit for review by the Council.
- Payment information - if you purchase a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. CouncilAds does not store your full credit card number. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.
Screenshots
When you provide a URL to a landing page or homepage, CouncilAds may automatically take a screenshot of that page to facilitate the Council review process. These screenshots are stored as part of your account data and are subject to the same retention and deletion policies as other content you submit.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use CouncilAds, we automatically collect basic technical information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and pages visited within the service. This information is used to maintain and improve the service.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use CouncilAds. GA4 collects information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and approximate geographic region. We use IP anonymization in GA4, which means your full IP address is not stored by Google. Google Analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
2. How We Use Your Information
We process your information because it is necessary to provide the services you request, fulfill our contractual obligations to you, comply with legal requirements, protect our legitimate business interests, or with your consent where required.
Specifically, we use the information we collect to:
- Provide the CouncilAds service, including generating ads, running Council reviews, and delivering results to you
- Communicate with you about your account, results, and service updates
- Process payments for paid plans through Stripe
- Maintain, improve, and protect the service
- Detect and prevent fraud and abuse, including misuse of free account limits
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your business information, ad content, or submitted URLs to train AI models or share them with third parties outside of what is necessary to provide the service.
3. AI Processing
CouncilAds uses Anthropic's API to generate advertising copy and run Council reviews. When you submit content for review, that content is transmitted to Anthropic solely to generate your requested output. We do not use your submitted content to train our own AI models.
We require our AI providers to process submitted information only as necessary to provide the requested functionality and not for training their general AI models. Anthropic's data handling practices are governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
CouncilAds is designed to operate with alternative AI providers in the event of a disruption. Any replacement provider would be held to the same data handling standards described here.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Supabase - your account data, submitted content, ad history, and screenshots are stored in Supabase, our database provider. Supabase processes this data solely to store and retrieve it on our behalf. Supabase's data handling is governed by Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic - content you submit for AI processing is transmitted to Anthropic as described in Section 3.
- Stripe - payment information is processed by Stripe as described in Section 1.
- Email delivery - we use a third-party email delivery provider to send account-related emails including results, password resets, and service notifications. Your email address is shared with this provider solely for the purpose of delivering these communications.
- Cloud hosting - CouncilAds is hosted on reputable cloud infrastructure. Your data may be processed by our hosting provider as necessary to operate the service.
- Google Analytics - anonymized usage data is shared with Google as described in Section 1.
- Legal requirements - we may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfer - if CouncilAds is acquired, merged, or subject to a sale of assets, bankruptcy, or corporate restructuring, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and submitted content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
If you close your account, we will retain your data for 90 days, after which it will be deleted from our systems. This retention period exists to support dispute resolution, allow for reactivation, and assist with any support issues that arise near the time of cancellation. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us at councilads.com/contact.
Screenshots taken of landing pages and homepages are subject to the same 90-day post-cancellation retention policy.
Security logs, system backups, and diagnostic records may be retained for longer periods where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or disaster recovery. These records are kept separate from your account content and are not used for any other purpose.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal retention requirements
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at councilads.com/contact. We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.
California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at councilads.com/contact.
International Users
CouncilAds is operated from the United States and is primarily intended for businesses operating in the United States. We do not actively market to residents of the European Union or other jurisdictions with distinct data protection regimes. If you are accessing CouncilAds from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. If you have questions about cross-border data transfers, contact us at councilads.com/contact.
7. Cookies
CouncilAds uses cookies and similar technologies such as local storage to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and support analytics through Google Analytics as described in Section 1. We also use Google Ads conversion tracking, which sets a cookie recording the ad click that brought you to the site so we can measure which ads lead to signups. Where you arrive from one of our ads, we store that click identifier with your account for the same purpose. We do not use cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising.
Essential cookies cannot be disabled because they are required for authentication and basic operation of the service. You can control non-essential cookie settings through your browser, though doing so may affect your ability to stay logged in or use certain features.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These measures include encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls, least-privilege access to production systems, and security monitoring. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which maintains PCI DSS compliance.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law and without unreasonable delay.
9. Children's Privacy
CouncilAds is not directed at children and is intended for use by businesses and individuals aged 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Third-Party Links
CouncilAds may contain links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to CouncilAds. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party sites you visit through links on our service.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of CouncilAds after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
